What are Covid-19 tests?
Two kinds of tests are available for COVID-19: viral tests and antibody tests.
* A viral test tells you whether you have a current infection. These are swabs taken from the nose or mouth. These include rapid antigen tests and molecular tests like PCR.

* An antibody test is a blood test that can tell you if you had a past infection and may have developed immunity. It should not be used to tell you if you are currently infected. We use a rapid 15 minute test taken from the finger tip.

Rapid antigen Covid test - this is a more comfortable, front of nose only swab. It indicates the presence of active Covid infection by detecting proteins from the virus. This test is widely used by government agencies, nursing homes, schools, and hospitals.
RT- PCR (Results in one hour). PCR is generally the most accurate of Covid testing, and what is required by many travel destinations. A positives test indicates you are currently infected.
Antibody test- FDA authorized for fingerstick sampling. . The test is highly accurate to detect the presence of antibodies to Covid -19, which generally take at least 2 weeks after infection to be detectable. This antibody test can tell you if you have developed antibodies due to past Covid 19 infection.
